Why Does My Daily Yield Sometimes Stay the Same or Change?
A simple explanation of why your daily yield may stay the same on some days and change on others.
Let’s look at a real example using the fund’s published unit prices over a 42-day period.
Starting balance
On 1 June 2026, EGP 1,000,000 was added to a GRANITE account.
Once the amount was processed, it purchased units in the GRANITE Money Market Fund at a unit price of EGP 1.12430.
This resulted in:
889,442.32 fund units
The number of units remained the same throughout this example because no additional amounts were added or withdrawn.
How does the balance grow?
Your GRANITE account balance is calculated using a simple formula:
Number of units × current unit price = account balance
The number of units stays the same, but the unit price changes every day based on the fund’s performance.
As the unit price increases, the value of your account increases.

After 42 days:
Starting balance: EGP 1,000,000.00
Ending balance: EGP 1,019,683.36
Total returns: EGP 19,683.36
This works out to an average of approximately EGP 469 per day during this specific period.
How does compounding work?
Each day’s growth becomes part of your account balance.
This means future returns are calculated on the updated balance, including the returns already earned.
For example:
- At the beginning, returns were generated on EGP 1,000,000.
- By the end of the period, returns were being generated on a balance of more than EGP 1,019,000.
This is how returns gradually build on previous returns.
Why did the daily return appear as either EGP 462.51 or EGP 471.40?
The fund’s published unit price is displayed using five decimal places.
However, the actual daily movement in the unit price may include more decimal places than those displayed. When the price is rounded, the published daily movement may appear slightly different from one day to another.
In this example:
- A unit price increase of EGP 0.00052 produced a displayed daily return of approximately EGP 462.51.
- A unit price increase of EGP 0.00053 produced a displayed daily return of approximately EGP 471.40.
This does not mean the fund’s underlying return suddenly increased or decreased.
It is simply the effect of rounding the published unit price. These small differences balance out over time and are fully reflected in the total account balance.
Can the money be withdrawn?
There is no lock-in period. A withdrawal request can be submitted through GRANITE at any time.
The actual transfer timing remains subject to the applicable cut-off time, banking hours, weekends, official holidays and normal bank processing.
Important information
This example is based on the fund’s actual published unit prices between 1 June and 13 July 2026.
The full-precision daily figures used in the original example were reconstructed for illustration by assuming a constant daily rate during the period.
Past performance does not guarantee future returns. Returns are not fixed and may change based on prevailing market conditions and interest rates.
